The Mosaic Tree

A celebration of 100 years of learning

This whimsical tree was designed and created by Kenwood parent and mosaic artist Stacia Goodman to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Kenwood Elementary School’s current building. The Kenwood PTA funded the tree and its installation in April 2009. Special thanks go to retired art teacher Margaret Swenson, who patiently led Kenwood students in creating their ceramic leaves during the 2008-2009 school year.

The school supplies incorporated into the mosaic came entirely from Kenwood teachers and students at the end of the 2007-2008 school year. These items would have entered the waste stream, had they not been salvaged. The artist intended to beautify the school while highlighting the need to reduce and reuse school supplies.

With great appreciation to (former) principal Susan Craig and the Mosaic Tree Committee: Stacia Goodman, Shannon Rogers, Steph See, Kit Wilson, and Wendy Wolf.
